Singing began at a very early age for Josh. In fact, the people who know say that he was humming tunes before he could even talk. He grew up in a very musically inclined family, and they sang together on a regular basis and gave many programs throughout his growing up years. After his voice changing experience, Josh sang bass/baritone in the Halifax Community Chorale for several years under the direction of the late Kenneth Cranford. His lower rumblings came to a halt, though, when he was encouraged by one of his music teachers, John Henry Miller, to attempt the first tenor part. Josh agreed to try it, and he's been on higher ground ever since! In the fall of 2001, he was invited by Voice Of Praise to try out for the recently vacated first tenor spot. He was very excited, but at the same time, very nervous. Despite the nervousness, his audition session was satisfactory and he was invited to join the group, which he was happy to do. Besides singing with Voice Of Praise over the last several years, he has also had the privilege of singing in a number of choirs, including Hartville Singers, Mennonite Heritage Chorale, Tapestry Chamber Singers, and others. He really enjoys choral singing, and does as much as his schedule will allow. In the winter of 2003, he married his sweetheart, Kimberly Witmer, from Hanover, PA. They live in South Boston, VA, and both work in his father's bakery. Josh writes, "I thank God for the wonderful blessing of music, and that through it His name can be praised and glorified, and that His people can be inspired and encouraged. My prayer is that though my singing, Jesus Christ will be lifted up."
